Boaters Owners Urged (Flathead Lake) To Dock Boats Immediately (by Sunday)

Date:

The water level this year at Flathead Lake is unusually low- so low in fact (18 inches or more now) and boat owners were told the water could drop even further.

Many residents etc. rented boat slips on June 15th until September 15th but are uncertain if they will receive a refund.

Supposedly according to some residents, on July 4th, the water dropped 6 inches. Some are blaming it on the mismanagement of the dam; stating “This is part of the “Water Compact”.

Near Polson, many are docking their boats as of yesterday and were told to be sure to have it done by this Sunday. They were told (highly advised to do so; however we are not exactly sure who issued that information to them).

Fish, Wildlife, and Parks is advising folks to keep a close look out for lower water levels in whichever area of the lake they reside and to “get their boats off of the lifts if need be.”

There are no mandatory orders to remove boats off of Flathead Lake at this time.

Meanwhile, commercial boat owners in the Lakeside and Bigfork areas are very upset as their boats have incurred damage due to lower lake levels on Flathead Lake and subsequently a loss of income. There was mention of a “class action suit”.

Flathead Lake is in big trouble folks.
