Recently local Kalispell citizens took to social media with pictures and comments concerning the recent destruction of the bathrooms at Lawrence Park in Kalispell. Residents are thoroughly appalled at the disgusting mess they shared via a park employee.
“Unbelievable!!! Our parks are being destroyed at an incredible rate. No bathrooms, needles laying around, constant trash. Our kids deserve better than this.”

Several months ago, Ryan Hunter (Kalispell City Councilman Ward 3) mentioned how he wanted to see “more bathrooms and water fountains” placed throughout Kalispell.
Most certainly that is NOT what most residents in Kalispell want. Kalispell doesn’t need more public bathrooms. Respectful individuals can use public restrooms in the library, a grocery store, and so on. Bathrooms already have sinks where if one is thirsty enough, they can drink from there. The issue is respect.
Furthermore, most taxpayers do not want to fund more “toilets” (the proof ‘why’ is pictured above).
Yeah we need more of ” love lives here” they can live with them that want them. Stick them in Whitefish they can share the love We NEVER had this problem before did we.
Making the generalization that all of the unhoused do things like this is ignorant, and would be frankly comical if there were not such serious implications for these individuals. I realize that any attempt to use logic or reason with this population is out of the picture, so I just ask that you think about how you would feel if you were thrown a curveball in life, and ended up in a similar situation, and under the same scrutiny that you place on these people.
Sam i housed 18 people homeless folks no one would take in over a 6 year period including very physically ill women and their infants Have you? I also helped a homeless shelter and helped obtain large funds for them have you I helped them for 8 years.
additionally the article doesn’t once use the word homeless.
Sam, what is the current rate of unemployed humans here in Kalispell? What is the total number of homeless humans here in the Flathead Valley? Before you answer those. Please ask yourself, would anyone that has a good home to go to at night, do this damage to a public park bathroom?
Respectfully,

Montana and Kalispell in particular is the fastest growing state for homelessness per capita in the nation. And i can assure you a good number of them land here from other states. as a matter of fact they tell their friends to come here because “Kalispell is so good to the homeless.” That should never be happening. but it is.
Bret i think the logic lies in the fact that theres so much waste and toilet sewage…i cant imagine kids just breaking the roof through then hanging out long enough to make such toilet mess. .that crappy mess didn’t happen all at once. it seems much more logical that someone seeking shelter broke in then HUNG OUT THERE to get out of the cold. and remember drug addicts will do anything and everything you can imagine as they just aren’t in their right minds..
unless some kids bashed in the roof and those escaping the elements jumped in and hung out and did all that with the toilets. lets put it this way most teens aren’t gonna hang out with bodily waste. even if the homeless DIDNT do this…its precisely the kinds of things they do.
