Road Trip: Oregon Coast Has Animals the Size of “Jurassic Park”

Date:

I never would have thought it were true if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes.

Having taken a much needed vacation to the Oregon Coast I encountered (via my car window right outside of Cannon Beach) an elk that was SO massive I did not think it was real at first.

I shouted to my husband, “That is the biggest animal I have ever seen!” It certainly was much bigger, taller, and heavier than any elk I had ever laid eyes upon in Montana.

And when I mentioned to him that it “looked like a statue” he had the audacity to say he didn’t believe me!

That was of course until HE went walking down the beach this morning (we are staying in a house in Manzanita just a few miles down from Cannon Beach) where he viewed a few elk. He showed me pictures of ‘his elk’ to which I smugly replied, “Well those are half the size of what I saw” (and that’s the honest truth)!

While traveling tonight we BOTH spotted a couple elk so I snapped a couple pictures and here is what we saw…

Keep in mind however this is about HALF the size of what I spotted the night before which had a humongous rack; I just wasn’t quick enough to snap a picture of the HUGE one!

(I win, I always win) :).
