“The poll results are in!
In combing through emails and the responses to the recent poll we ran on our story on both Instagram and Facebook, the biggest takeaway is that absolutely nobody believes Bozeman is heading in the right direction. What is even more interesting is that when we look at who is sending the comments and criticisms of the city, they aren’t just Republicans and conservatives, but Libertarians, Democrats, and many who are apolitical. This is an opportunity for us to organize and take back control of the future of Bozeman together.
We would like to take some time to provide a bit more clarity on what we mean when we ask you to consider organizing and volunteering. We started this campaign because we saw our city as an increasingly desirable destination that was being ruined by very poor leadership, personal political agendas within the city’s leaders and advisory boards, and outside interests taking advantage of the open land, newfound wealth, and central planning opportunities that will continue to define the future of this city and county over the years to come. Our aim is rooted in the beautification of the city, the needs of its current residents, the infrastructure shortages and mismanagement, and the amenities that should be offered with a city budget the size of Bozeman’s. Instead, we are being force-fed density and infill, a condo and apartment dystopia, urban campers squatting wherever they please, an attempt to rewrite the history of Bozeman, and truly bizarre initiatives surrounding climate change, deliberate demographic change (with free ski lessons, apparently), and Smart City policies.
We have received responses ranging from the campers to illegal immigrants, and from the UDC to the sexualization and politicization of children. It is that broad of a spectrum. It is that tragic of situation, and it is all avoidable.
