In light of the recent laws being passed in Idaho regarding the death penalty by firing squad for criminals, including pedophiles (charged with certain crimes), Montanans are rising up and hoping to accomplish similar matters. Please read below about how Idaho accomplished all this in its legislature, along with the bills recently signed by Governor Brad Little. Gov. Little’s statement on death penalty for pedophiles
Tuesday April 1, 2025,
Boise, Idaho – Governor Brad Little issued an expanded statement today on his signing of House Bill 380 last week, allowing the death penalty for pedophiles charged with aggravated lewd conduct with children 12 and younger and strengthening punishments for other convicted pedophiles.
“Just like capital murder destroys lives, aggravated sexual abuse of a young child devastates victims and families for generations. The sexual abuse of children is sickening and evil, and perpetrators convicted of these crimes deserve the ultimate punishment. Idaho also just became the ONLY state to make death by firing squad the primary method of execution. I commend my partners in the Legislature for strengthening Idaho’s already powerful ‘tough on crime’ reputation among the states,” Governor Little said.

The Issue
We, the undersigned, call for urgent legislative action to protect our communities by enacting a law that imposes the death penalty on individuals convicted of repeat sexual offenses. Despite existing penalties, recidivism rates among sexual offenders remain alarmingly high, leaving countless victims—often children, women, and vulnerable individuals—in the wake of these heinous crimes. Studies show that repeat offenders pose a persistent threat to society, with many demonstrating a clear inability or unwillingness to rehabilitate. Current measures, such as incarceration or monitoring, have proven insufficient to deter these predators from striking again.
By reserving the death penalty for those convicted of multiple sexual offenses beyond a reasonable doubt, we can ensure justice for victims, deter future crimes, and remove irredeemable threats from our streets. This petition urges lawmakers to prioritize public safety and the rights of victims over the leniency too often afforded to habitual offenders. We demand a vote on this critical issue to reflect the will of the people and restore faith in a justice system that must protect the innocent above all else. Sign now to stand with survivors and send a clear message: enough is enough.
(Governor Gianforte, Attorney General Austin Knudsen, and Senator Daines have been contacted and have not responded at this time.)
