In the past 36 hours Montana1stNews has received numerous reports concerning larger numbers of the homeless population wandering on Meridian Road in Kalispell and outside the Flathead Warming Center.
Today a gentleman called and reported to Montana1stNews that two days ago he was visiting with two homeless gentlemen who he ran into inside Walgreens in Kalispell. When he asked where they were from one replied “California” and the other stated he was from “Idaho” and when he asked them where they were staying, they both announced, “The Flathead Warming Center.”
Now mind you the local resident didn’t put words in their mouths or mention that such a homeless shelter existed. Therefore, it is evident that homeless are STILL coming here specifically to stay at the shelter or once they’ve arrived, they are tipped off that it exists and that is where they are staying.
This is odd as many who work at the center deny that folks are coming from out of state. This type of thing needs to be immediately reported to the Center who act as though they are willing (now) to listen to complaints or concerns from the public. Why all the sudden interest in taking concerns and complaints? It is because the Flathead Warming Center signed a contract with the City (an agreement) and now, they have to respond-they must respond.
Friends we can’t CANNOT have those out of the area coming here to stay at this Center! This is unacceptable so contact the Board of Directors immediately if you find out such matter. Kalispell is not California, and we don’t need to be housing their homeless or Idaho for that matter.
Who knows how many of the new transients of late are from other states?
